Controversial Benedict Canyon hotel project moves forward despite council member's concerns A plan to build a luxury hotel in Benedict Canyon continues to move forward after the Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday deadlocked on a vote to halt the review process. The 7-7 vote rejected a proposal by the council member serving that area to stop the administrative process for the 58-room Bulgari Resort Los Angeles project.Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky, who moved for the halt, told the Los Angeles Times she was "deeply disappointed" by the vote.“This is a bad project,” Yaroslavsky added to the Times. “The process was deeply flawed. Black families have been unable to accumulate wealth through property ownership and higher education. Black boys and teenagers are still told to watch out for law enforcement, and Black businesses struggle to get loans, she said. State task force approves payments, apology to Black Californians “I want them to stop acting like it’s so far removed, and it’s not currently happening,” said Harris of the lingering effects of slavery and discrimination. “I want them to understand that we’re still going through things now...
